Freedom at Midnight 2: Abhinandan Gupta Teases Upcoming Season's Surprises!

Shortly after the first season premiered in 2024, Freedom at Midnight quickly rose to the top of the streaming audience's favorites. The historical drama web series is based on the partition of India and is based on the same-titled book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins. Although fans are anticipating Season 2, author Abhinandan Gupta has given them a preview of what to expect from the next season.

 

The creators of Freedom at Midnight revealed that Season 2 is in development after releasing the first season on Sony LIV in November 2024. Despite everyone's curiosity about the story's future, author Abhinandan Gupta has offered some insights. They approached Season 2 with the same feeling of duty, objectivity, fairness, empathy, and compassion that they did with Season 1, he said in an interview with a media source.

 

Gupta said, without giving away any spoilers, “It is about what happens on the streets right after what the bureaucrats have done indoors.” He went on to say that although Season 1 focused on the politics that led to India's split, the next season will explore the fallout from that choice. “That is how these two seasons are thematically structured. It is a finite timeline, with two seasons covering a great story,” he ended his post.

 

The author praised Ranveer Singh in the same interview, saying that working with him on the sets of Bajirao Mastani, Kill Dill, and Padmaavat was a pleasure. Despite spending a lot of time with Singh, Gupta still calls him a great performer and aspires to work with the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani star once more.

 

Abhinandan Gupta also lauded Deepika Padukone, saying that she commands attention and that when she is in the frame, people can't look anywhere else. Additionally, he expressed his love for Vicky Kaushal, whose performance in Chhaava has garnered a lot of accolades. “I think Vicky is a really exciting actor to watch. He’s got great comic timing and can do anything,” he told, adding that Ranbir Kapoor is also on his wishlist of actors he wants to work with.
