Austin Butler to Play Patrick Bateman in American Psycho Remake!

Austin Butler will play Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino's American Psycho revival, following in the footsteps of pop culture's favorite "sigma male." The 1991 novel by Bret Easton Ellis served as the inspiration for the first film, which went on to become a cultural sensation. Christian Bale portrays Patrick Bateman, who works as both a serial murderer and an investment banker.

When Mary Harron's satirical psychological horror film was released in 2000, it immediately became a recurring trend and won admiration from fans, mostly through memes, for its scathing critique of capitalism. Josh Lucas, Samantha Mathis, Cara Seymour, Justin Theroux, Chloë Sevigny, Willem Dafoe, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto, and others were in the movie.

 

According to reports, Guadagnino's adaptation of Ellis' protagonist differs greatly from the original film. Similar to Guadagnino's work in Suspiria (2018) and Call Me by Your Name (2017), he will take a new approach to the character, giving the satirical horror greater nuance. Consequently, the current endeavor will not be a re-creation of the earlier modification.

 

Austin Butler has been chosen to play Patrick Bateman, according to a tabloid. Jacob Elordi was previously speculated to be a candidate for the role of the notorious serial killer from New York City. However, after portraying Elvis in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, it has now been revealed that Butler will play the part. It's interesting to note that Elordi plays the iconic character in Priscilla, directed by Sofia Coppola.
